Vivo is launching its new smartphone operating system, Vivo OriginOS 7. The new software, developed on the Android 17 platform, is aimed at improving the software experience, providing a smoother operation, flexible multitasking, artificial intelligence, and a new visual appearance. Vivo has also announced the launch of Jovi, the company’s AI-driven personal assistant to help users on supported devices.

Vivo OriginOS 7 Based on Android 17

OriginOS 7 is Android 17-based and introduces UI/UX/UX System & Smart changes. Vivo has revamped the visuals with new materials, lighting effects and liquid-style animation. The software has been designed to be smooth with regular use and heavy workloads, the company states.

The OS also provides for new customization features to allow the user to alter the look and function of themes, wallpapers and elements on the home screen. Some features may be available on some devices and markets, but not others.

Jovi AI Transforming to a Personal AI Agent

The latest Vivo OriginOS 7 features a growing part for Jovi. Vivo calls Jovi a personal AI assistant that can assist users with tasks in their supported devices. The aim of the system is to give more natural conversations, helpful replies and proactive support.

Jovi can also handle various kinds of information and services. Vivo is entering the fold of multimodal capabilities, which will enable people to leverage AI with visual information, in supported markets. The Chinese version of OriginOS 7 also supports template creation and Vibe Coding, two personalised features.

Origin Workbench is improving multitasking.

OriginOS 7 gives birth to a new concept of multitasking called Origin Workbench. The feature aims to streamline the ability to operate various processes and programs with a mobile device. Vivo has framed the system as a productivity boost without complicating the multitasking process.

The software also emphasizes a more seamless transition from application to application and more responsive interaction. Vivo claims that its enhancements are aimed at keeping smoothness when the device is under heavy load and for longer periods of use each day.

Dynamic Glow and Liquid-Style Visual Design

Vivo OriginOS 7 will be a new visual language centered on light, shadows, dynamic translucent materials and liquid style effects. Wallpapers and interface elements can be touchable, and may move in response to touch, resulting in a more interactive look.

Themes in the software use motion sensors to produce dynamic lights. Glint Theme, for instance, provides light and shadow effects as the phone is tilted, thanks to the built-in gyroscope. One of the additional options, Wiggle Theme, turns photos of the user into interactive “liquid” surfaces that respond to touch.

New Themes and Home Screen Customisation

Personalisation is further enhanced with several new features in themes in OriginOS 7. With StickIt, users can compose layered collage images with photos and Live Photos on the lock screen, home screen and Always-On Display.

Pet Pals is also interactive, featuring animated pet pals on the home screen. These elements can react to the movement of the device, whether it is being charged or not, whether music is playing or not, and whether it is daytime or night.

Performance Improvements in OriginOS 7

Vivo has also been working on the performance of the operating system in its new version. Earlier, the OriginOS 7 updates were announced with enhancements to graphics rendering, app launching speed, switching between windows and power-saving. There have been a number of changes in memory management and storage handling as well.

Storage Compression 2.0 is engineered to compress certain data more effectively to make more storage space available. The technology should allow for extra storage space on supported devices, but the extent to which that occurs will depend on phone configuration and usage.

Cross-Device Connectivity is up-graded.

OriginOS 7 will be engineered to better integrate with other devices in the users’ ecosystem. Vivo has been concentrating on the effortless transfer of information and tasks between supported smartphones, and other compatible devices.

The software is also developed to align with the Vivo’s entire smart-device ecosystem. Some of the cross-device functions, however, may vary by device model, operating system version, and region availability.

Vivo OriginOS 7 Availability

Vivo took the next step in the OriginOS 7 Preview Program on 21st September and chose some iQOO devices in India, Thailand and Malaysia. It will then be rolled out across Vivo X500 series and newer X Fold and V series smartphones.

Vivo has said that features will be offered in different markets and regions. As the update continues to be rolled out to more smartphones, the company should give out rollup details for its devices.
