Norton Atlas ADV review offers a new adventure motorcycle that blends a 585cc parallel-twin engine, long-travel suspension and road-focused touring with genuine off-road capabilities. The motorcycle has been ridden for over 200km in Iceland on a mix of highways, flowing roads, gravel and off-road sections, and also offers an early insight into how Norton’s new adventure bike performs out of the controlled test conditions.
The Atlas forms part of Norton’s new-generation motorcycle range under the ownership of TVS. The motorcycle has been designed around a relatively clean look and a balanced approach between road and off-road use. Its setup was about 70 percent road-focused on the ride but had retained capability for rougher terrain.
Norton Atlas Design and Suspension
Norton Atlas takes a relatively restrained approach to adventure-bike styling. The motorcycle gets clean bodywork, minimal graphics and an exposed-looking engine layout. A short exhaust and lots of space around the rear section adds to its adventure-bike appeal.
The windscreen can be adjusted in three positions, however, the adjustment required both hands, so riders would have to stop for a position change. A one-handed adjustment function would have been welcome during longer rides.

The front of the Atlas uses upside-down KYB forks with 7 inches of travel while the rear gets a monoshock with another 7 inches of travel, plus it uses twin 310mm front discs.
The suspension travel was great on rough Icelandic surfaces but had managed to keep a composed feel on the road.

Norton Atlas Engine and Performance
Norton Atlas uses a 585cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crankshaft. It outputs 69hp at 9,300rpm and around 57Nm of torque at 7,500rpm with power going to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox.
The bike comes standard with a bi-directional quickshifter. The Atlas engine produced linear power but still retained a noticeable punch when the throttle was opened up further. The motorcycle also had power in reserve at speeds of above 150kmph during the test ride.
The engine character made it feel like a bigger motorcycle than its 585cc displacement suggests. The reviewer compared its performance to motorcycles in the 650cc category.
The quickshifter allowed fast gear changes and the light clutch made it easy for stop-and-go riding. The motorcycle also had a distinctive exhaust note that added to its character.

Norton Atlas Ride Quality and Comfort
The fuel tank and seat combine to provide a comfortable riding position. The motorcycle covered over 200km in a single day’s ride on a mix of highways, fast roads, gravel and off-road sections during the test.
The low seat made it easy for the reviewer to reach a full foot down with a slight lean. This makes the large adventure motorcycle less intimidating at low speeds.
The tyres provided good grip on both paved and loose surfaces. The motorcycle’s suspension and overall setup were also forgiving, giving the rider room for some minor corrections rather than upset the bike.
Braking performance was strong, but the initial bite felt soft. The braking force kicked in more noticeably with additional lever or pedal pressure. Once the reviewer had adapted to the brake response, they found it easier to use the available braking performance confidently.
Norton Atlas Features and Instrument Cluster
The Atlas gets a large touchscreen instrument display, with information presented in a clear way. Riders could operate the screen while stationary, but there were dedicated controls for riding modes when on the move.
The riding modes available include Urban, Rain, Sport, Tour and Enduro. The motorcycle also featured premium-feeling switchgear, although the turn-indicator switch was an area that could have provided better tactile feedback.
Norton’s official specifications list an 8-inch touchscreen TFT display with integrated ride modes and connectivity. The bike features functions such as navigation, music and calls via smartphone connectivity.
The Atlas is manufactured at TVS Motor Company’s facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The model is part of Norton’s return into the adventure segment, while the Atlas GT is the more road-focused sport-touring counterpart.
Norton has not yet announced the India price of the Atlas. The Times of India review noted that a price close to ₹5.5 lakh would put the motorcycle in a particular position in the adventure-bike market, but it was an opinion of the review and not an announced Indian price.
