2026 BMW 7 Series facelift launched at Rs.1.95 crore in India

The 2026 BMW 7 Series facelift has officially been launched in India for a starting price of Rs.1.95 crore, ex-showroom. The updated flagship sedan features major exterior and interior changes, as well as an improved petrol powertrain. BMW has launched the facelift over three and a half years after the current-generation 7 Series arrived in India.

The facelifted model is currently available in India in just one petrol-powered 740 variant. BMW has discontinued the 740d diesel variant in the Indian market. The company has also launched the updated all-electric i7 in 50 xDrive and M70 versions alongside the new 7 Series.

2026 BMW 7 Series facelift Price and Variant

The new BMW 7 Series facelift has been priced at Rs.1.95 crore, ex-showroom, India. The petrol-powered 740 costs Rs.10 lakh more than the outgoing model. BMW is offering the updated ICE-powered sedan in only one variant for the Indian market.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is priced between Rs.2.20-2.38 crore in India, according to Autocar India. The 7 Series still competes directly with the flagship Mercedes-Benz sedan.

2026 BMW 7 Series Exterior changes

The biggest visual changes on the 2026 BMW 7 Series facelift are concentrated at the front and have been made to the split headlamps, with slim daytime running lamps positioned above the main LED units. The kidney grille has also been redesigned with a squared-off shape and horizontal slats.

The grille continues to feature an illuminated surround while the lower air dam is now wider. These changes mean the front section has a noticeably different appearance compared with the outgoing model.

BMW has made changes to the side skirts and introduced new alloy wheel designs. 20-inch alloy wheels are standard while buyers can opt to have wheels measuring up to 22 inches. At the rear the sedan gets wider LED tail-lamps and a redesigned, smoother-looking bumper.

2026 BMW 7 Series Interior and features

The cabin in the facelifted 7 Series has been updated with design and technology inspired by BMW’s newer Neue Klasse models. The dashboard features a 17.9-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 14.6-inch passenger display, plus a pillar-to-pillar Panoramic Vision display.

The centre console has also been redesigned with more storage, fewer physical buttons and a new cylindrical rotary drive selector. The sedan also features a new two-spoke steering wheel design.

Luxury and technology features include a 35-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system, powered doors, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air updates, a fixed panoramic glass roof, powered leg rests and four-zone climate control.

Rear passengers get a 31.3-inch 8K entertainment screen and the sedan also comes with powered, heated, ventilated and massaging seats, connected-car tech and Level 2 ADAS.

2026 BMW 7 Series Engine and performance

The 2026 BMW 7 Series continues with a 3.0-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol straight-six engine combined with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Internal upgrades have raised the output to 400hp and 540Nm, which is an increase of 19hp and 20Nm over the outgoing model.

The engine is paired with an 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox which sends power to the rear wheels. BMW claims a 0-100kph acceleration time of 5.4 seconds while the electronically-limited top speed is 250kph.

The facelifted 7 Series also features rear-wheel steering and adaptive suspension. BMW has not supplied the diesel-powered 740d in India with this facelift. The diesel version continues to be available in some international markets.

The 2026 BMW 7 Series facelift offers a substantial update to BMW’s flagship sedan in India. With its sole 740 petrol variant, an upgraded 400hp engine and extensive rear-seat equipment, the model offers BMW’s focus on the luxury sedan segment.
