Sennheiser has launched two new entry-level wireless audio devices in India to complement its high-end wireless audio products. The Momentum 5 Wireless is over-the-ear headphones while the Momentum True Wireless 5 are a pair of true wireless earbuds. Both models emphasize adaptive active noise cancellation, spatial audio and replaceable batteries, enabling consumers to simply swap the batteries when they start to wear out, rather than replacing the whole product.

Price and Availability in India

The Sennheiser Momentum 5 Wireless costs Rs 39,990 in India and the Momentum True Wireless 5 costs Rs 29,990 in India. Both products are now on sale for pre-order on Sennheiser’s official website, online and offline retailers. Regular sales will start on October 1.

If the customer pre-orders the products they will be able to avail Rs 5,990 Bluetooth USB dongle from Sennheiser. Other pre-order rewards may be subject to change based on sales channel.

Momentum 5 Wireless Features

The over-ear model has 42mm dynamic drivers for precise sound reproduction. It supports Hi-Res Audio, Snapdragon Sound, aptX Lossless and aptX Adaptive codecs. The headphone also features Dolby Atmos spatial audio and interactive head tracking for content that supports it.

The headphones feature an 8-microphone hybrid adaptive noise-canceling system for noise cancellation. Sennheiser states the new setup offers up to three times the noise rejection in the midrange frequencies over the previous Momentum 4 Wireless. There’s also an Auto Wind-Noise Suppression feature and a Transparency Mode on the headphones.

Up to 57 Hours of Battery Life

Sennheiser claims the Momentum 5 Wireless provides up to 57 hours of playback using ANC. The most significant change is that it has a user-replaceable 700mAh battery. The company claims that the battery can be replaced by the user and not relying on a service centre when it is at the end of its useful life.

The headphones are fully charged in about 2 hours, and can be charged for 10 minutes to enjoy playback for up to 7 hours. Charging is done via USB Type-C port. The device weighs around 290 grams.

Momentum True Wireless 5 Features

The Momentum True Wireless 5 earbuds come equipped with 7mm dynamic drivers and adaptive ANC. They also provide Dolby Atmos support with interactive head tracking, and lossless audio. The earbuds and the charging case have a replaceable battery system.

The earbuds can hold up to 40 hours of playback with the charging case, the company claims. The replaceable battery design will be used to increase the useful life of the earbuds as their batteries wear out.

Colours and Design

The Momentum 5 Wireless comes in Denim and Lavender colour in India, and Black is also available. Later, Sennheiser will be releasing the White and Bronze variants, it says. The Momentum True Wireless 5 comes in Denim and Lavender as well as Graphite and Cream in colour options. The availability is subject to change depending on market and sales channel.

Connectivity and Other Features

Momentum 5 Wireless is compatible with Bluetooth 5.4 and codecs such as aptX aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, AAC and SBC. It also enables users to connect to multiple source devices which are compatible with it. The headphones take advantage of the Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app to customise sound, control equaliser settings and more.

Headphones also include beamforming microphones for calls, on-head detection, touch controls and a Transparency Mode. The new version is a more high-end over-ear headset, with Sennheiser continuing to have replaceable batteries with the rest of the new Momentum headsets.
