Electric Vehicle Buyers Jump in Chhattisgarh
The surge in electric vehicle sales in Chhattisgarh comes as the clean mobility segment continues to witness strong growth across India. India’s overall electric vehicle retail sales grew by 52.9% year-on-year to 2,98,448 units in August 2026, compared with 1,95,299 units sold in August 2025.
Electric two-wheelers continued to dominate EV sales, with retail sales growing by 67.05% year-on-year to 1,83,204 units in August 2026. As a result, electric vehicle penetration in India’s overall automobile retail market increased to 12.3% in August 2026 from 9.5% a year earlier.

Electric passenger vehicle retail sales reached 30,696 units in August 2026. Electric three-wheelers followed with 79,846 units during the same period. Electric commercial vehicle retail sales also increased to 4,702 units.
