Over the next week the smartphone industry is getting busy with a number of new devices on the market September 28 – October 4, 2026. It features high-end flagship smartphones as well as offerings for the more budget-conscious market. The Honor Magic 9 series will go on sale in China on September 28 while the Oppo K14 Plus 5G and iQOO 16 and the HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G will be available on September 29. The Redmi 17C 5G will then be available in India on October 1.

Upcoming Phones Launch Schedule

But the busiest day of the week will be September 29 when three smartphones are set to hit the market. Oppo has officially confirmed the launch of K14 Plus 5G in India on the same day while HMD has confirmed the launch of Vibe 2 Pro 5G on the same day. The iQOO 16 will go on sale in China later in the day.

Honor Magic 9 Series Launch on September 28

The Honor Magic 9 series will kick off the week’s smartphone launches with its China debut on September 28. Honor Magic 9, Magic 9 Pro and Magic 9 Pro Max will be part of the lineup. The series will run on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme 6 platform and is likely to be heavily oriented towards imaging.

Honor has confirmed 200MP main and 200MP telephoto cameras for the series, and its camera partnership with ARRI adds features to the series like ARRI LogC3, ARRI Movie Mode and ARRI Look. The phones are also rumored to have a 200mm teleconversion lens, as well as a new 500mm teleconversion lens. This will be followed by more details being unveiled at the China launch event.

Oppo K14 Plus 5G Launch on September 29

The Oppo K14 Plus 5G will go head-to-head with the Samsung Galaxy Note3 in India on September 29 at 12 PM IST. Oppo has stated that the smartphone will run on MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Max processor and the device will be available on Flipkart. The company has also hinted at an AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate.

The phone will come with a 50MP main rear camera sensor, optical image stabilisation and 4K video recording. For selfies and video calls, it is believed to have a 16MP Sony IMX480 front-facing camera. The K14 Plus will also carry an 8,000mAh battery and 5,000-square-mm VC cooling system. Oppo has now announced that the phone is IP69K rated, meaning that it is waterproof and dustproof.

iQOO 16 Launch on September 29

The iQOO 16 will go on sale in China on September 29 at 7 PM CST or 4.30 PM IST. It is expected to be among the big flagships of the week with the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Gen 6 chipset at its heart.

The phone will have a 2K resolution OLED display, which will boast a 165Hz refresh rate. It is also said to be equipped with Samsung’s M16 OLED panel that offers as much as 10,000 nits of peak brightness in local areas. It is believed to have a 50MP OmniVision OV50Q main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP Sony IMX-882 3x periscope telephoto camera.

The iQOO 16 will get software based on Android 17 and OriginOS 7. Its debut in China is announced and the rumours are that the flagship might not be rolled out in India. The situation of India will be clearer after the China launch.

HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G Launch on September 29

The Vibe 2 Pro 5G is also being released on September 29 by HMD in India. HMD has officially announced the launch date, and the phone will be an upgrade over HMD’s Vibe 2 5G. The launch will be at 12 PM IST.

The chipset used in the HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G is likely to be MediaTek Dimensity 6300 and the battery will be 6000mAh with 33W fast charging support. The camera system is likely to feature a 64MP Sony IMX682 primary sensor, a 2MP macro camera on the back and a 13MP camera at the front. The phone will also support 22 regional languages and be powered by Indus by Sarvam AI and run Android 16.

Redmi 17C 5G Launch on October 1

As for the Redmi 17C 5G, it will be the first major smartphone launch for October in India. Xiaomi has revealed that the phone will be available in the country from October 1st, 2026. The Indian version is likely to have the same overall design as the global version, which comes in Black, Brown and Purple colours.

The global Redmi 17C 5G has a 6.9-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 810 nits brightness. It runs on top of MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, and features up to 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage with microSD expansion support. The rear camera on the device is 50MP, while the selfie camera is 8MP. The phone also features a 6,000mAh battery, 33W fast charging support.

More Phones Expected in October 2026

The first week of October is probably not the end of the lineup of smartphones. As per latest launch date, Ai+ Pulse 2 FE will be available in India on 5th October and Vivo V80 and Vivo S2 FE will be available in India on 6th October. The Mivi One 5G will be available on October 8. Other smartphones like Xiaomi 18 Pro, Oppo Find X10 series, Vivo X500 series, OnePlus 16 and RedMagic 12 Pro+ series have also been added with an unspecified launch date.

The September 28 – October 4 period is therefore a combination of flagship and mid-range smartphones. The Honor Magic 9 series and iQOO 16 will cater to the premium segment, while the Oppo K14 Plus 5G, HMD Vibe 2 Pro 5G and Redmi 17C 5G will increase the competition in the Indian market.
