BMW Motorrad has teased a new roadster motorcycle, which will be unveiled on October 1, 2026. The upcoming bike will be based on the same platform as the BMW F 450 GS, and could be called the BMW F 450 R. The company has yet to confirm the motorcycle name or full specifications.

The new roadster is expected to expand BMWMotorrad’s entry-level motorcycle range. The company discontinued the G 310 R and G 310 GS, while the F 450 GS arrived in India early in 2026 with a new twin-cylinder platform. The upcoming roadster is expected to use the same engine and could be placed below the F 450 GS.

BMW F 450 R Expected Engine and Platform

The BMW F 450 R is expected to share the 420cc twin-cylinder engine used by the F 450 GS. In the F 450 GS, this engine produces 48hp and 43Nm and comes with a 6-speed gearbox. BMW has yet to confirm whether the roadster will receive identical engine tuning.

The F 450 GS also introduced BMW’s Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) technology. Whether the same system will be offered on the new roadster will be confirmed at the reveal.

BMW New Roadster Design and Hardware

The teaser image does not reveal many details, but a USD front fork can be seen on the upcoming BMW roadster. The F 450 GS uses a 43mm USD fork with 180mm of travel. Since the new motorcycle will be designed as a roadster rather than an adventure bike, its suspension travel is expected to be shorter. This remains an expectation until BMW releases the official specifications.

The rear suspension is also expected to receive a road-focused setup. The F 450 GS Trophy variant gets adjustable suspension on both ends, but it is not yet known whether BMW will offer the same adjustment range for the roadster.

The motorcycle’s styling is expected to follow the naked-roadster format, featuring less bodywork than the F 450 GS. BMW Motorrad currently lists the S 1000 R as its roadster model in India, while the new motorcycle would sit in a smaller displacement category.

BMW F 450 R Launch Date and Expected Rivals

BMWMotorrad has confirmed October 1, 2026, at 5:30pm IST as the reveal time of the new motorcycle. More details regarding its name, specifications, equipments and India pricing are expected around the reveal.

The BMW F 450 GS currently starts at ₹4.95 lakh after its recent price revision. The upcoming roadster is expected to be placed below the adventure motorcycle, although BMW has not announced its price yet.

For reference, the Aprilia Tuono 457 Special Edition is priced at ₹3.99 lakh, while the KTM 390 Duke R costs ₹3.45 lakh. These motorcycles are expected to be among the key rivals of BMW’s new roadster, depending on its final specifications and price.

The upcoming motorcycle could also become an important replacement for BMW’s previous 310cc roadster positioning in India. However, BMW has not officially confirmed that the new roadster will replace the G 310 R.

BMW’s new roadster will add another model to its recently expanded entry-level motorcycle strategy. The final name, specifications, price and equipments will become clear when the motorcycle is officially revealed on October 1.
