Yamaha R2 Pre-Booking Amount
Yamaha initially opened bookings for the R2 at ₹10,000. According to the original announcement, the booking amount was fully refundable, with refunds scheduled to be processed after September 5, 2026.
The motorcycle was scheduled to launch on August 27, 2026, with customers who pre-booked the bike receiving priority. The Yamaha R2 is manufactured in India and is also intended for export to international markets.

The Yamaha R2 is available in three variants, with prices starting from ₹2.30 lakh for the standard version and going up to ₹2.53 lakh for the range-topping R2 M variant. All prices mentioned below are ex-showroom, Delhi.

Yamaha R2 Engine and Performance
The Yamaha R2 is powered by a newly developed 204cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. It features a DOHC four-valve setup and produces 26.5hp at 10,000rpm and 19.1Nm of torque at 8,000rpm.
The engine also uses a semi-dry sump lubrication system and DLC-coated valve components. Yamaha has positioned the motorcycle above the R15 while focusing on lightweight performance and agile handling.

Yamaha R2 Gets Lightweight Steel Frame
The R2 is built around a newly developed steel tube diamond frame. The frame weighs 14kg and contributes to the motorcycle’s lightweight construction.
The base variant has a kerb weight of 149kg, while the middle and R2 M variants weigh 150kg. Yamaha has kept the seat height at 810mm, which is slightly lower than the R15.
Yamaha R2 Features
The new Yamaha supersport motorcycle gets a ride-by-wire throttle, Yamaha Ride Control with three riding modes and a traction control system. It also features an assist and slipper clutch, dual-channel ABS and 37mm USD front forks.
A 5-inch full-colour TFT instrument cluster is also available. The middle variant gets a bi-directional quickshifter, while the top-spec R2 M comes with additional suspension and rider-focused equipment.
